SVAFMF 2023 Call for Pre-Screeners

The Society for Visual Anthropology Film and Media Festival (SVAFMF) is seeking pre-screeners for the 2023 festival to be held from November 15 to 19 in Toronto. As the first people to see the films submitted to the festival, pre-screeners are an essential part of the programming team. Pre-screeners view and rate films, helping the jury decide which submissions to include in the festival program.

Pre-screeners commit to evaluating two to five hours of film during one or more of three month-long evaluation periods:  (1) March 20 – April 20; (2) April 20 – May 20; (3) May 31– June 30.

Films assigned must be viewed and rated within the month of each evaluation period. The films may be features, shorts, or a combination of both.

Serving as a pre-screener provides a behind-the-scenes look at programming and festival operations.  Pre-screeners are recognized for their service on the festival website. If you are interested, please complete this form (https://forms.gle/MhvqAJFGrsd6fjvu8) by March 19.

Film assignments and instructions will be emailed to you at the address included in the form before the start of the evaluation period you selected.

Many thanks! If you have questions, please contact us at: svafilmfestival@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cool and Christian Hammons, SVAFMF Co-directors
