SVA Festival 2009 Request for Media SubmissionsRequest for Media Submissions! The 2009 SVA/AAA Film, Video, and Interactive Media Festival will take place during the AAA’s 108th Annual Meeting to be held in Philadelphia, PA, December 2 - December 6, 2009. As in the past, SVA selects a jury of anthropologists and film scholars who decide which submissions to include in the festival and, among those, which will receive awards. We continue to welcome interactive media work, and we also encourage short videos, particularly those under 20 minutes in length. Both NTSC and PAL formatting will be accepted for submissions. All entries must be in DVD format to be screened at the Festival. Registration for all submissions must be completed by April 1, 2009, at the AAA website. The registration area is typically available by mid March. Dr. Carol Hermer is the 2009 SVA Festival Coordinator, and any questions about the Festival should be directed to her at chermer@pipeline.com. Filmmakers and distributors are asked to send a copy of work that the SVA jury will consider to the Festival Submissions Manager, Dr. Joyce Hammond, Department of Anthropology, Mail Stop 9083, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA, 98225, postmarked no later than April 1, 2009. Students who are just finishing a film must also register on the AAA site by April 1, but they may submit their work up until May 15. Submitted materials will not be returned. Notification of acceptance/non-acceptance and award winners will be sent out in the summer. Clips of selected films and award winners will be placed on the SVA website.
