The deadline for consideration as a SVA invited session is coming up! Invited paper/poster session proposals must be submitted by email to the SVA Program Chairs by March 1, 2010.

The benefits of invited status include: 1) guaranteed acceptance into the program (no waiting until August!); 2) priority consideration for the more “desirable” time slots during the meeting; and 3) promotion within the program as an invited session.

What we require is what AAA requires:

Title of Session

Session Abstract (500 words max)

List of Participants (including roles—organizer, chair, discussant, presenter—as applicable)

Individual Paper/Poster Abstracts (250 words max)

We understand that sessions may not be completely formalized yet at this point, but in order for your session to receive the fullest consideration, please send as much information as you can about the confirmed participants, paper titles, and abstracts.  We will review all the submissions and make recommendations to the board.  Those proposals whose themes closely match the topic of “Circulation,” or specific issues in Visual Anthropology will probably be given preference, although we are also interested in innovative topics!  If you think that your session would be of interest to another AAA section, feel free to suggest a few (2-3) other sections for co-sponsorship (although we cannot guarantee anything, unfortunately).

Poster sessions are strongly encouraged to seek invited status! We would very much like to increase the presence of posters as a means of visual research and presentation at the Annual Meeting.

Roundtables need not be submitted for invited status at this time; the roundtables that are selected for the program will automatically received invited status from the AAA program committee. If you are planning a roundtable, please follow the regular AAA online submission deadline of April 1, 2010.

The sessions chosen for “invited” status will be notified in mid-March, and session organizers MUST formally submit complete session information using the online system by the general AAA deadline of April 1, 2010.
