Call for SVAFMF Projectionists in Toronto
The Film and Media Festival Co-directors are looking for two people to fill the position of projectionist at the 2023 SVA Film and Media Festival (SVAFMF) that will take place as part of the upcoming AAA meetings in Toronto, Canada.
The job requires technical knowledge of digital video and projection and entails working on-site in Toronto. We are looking for two highly responsible, punctual people interested in ethnographic and documentary film. The festival takes place Wednesday, Nov 15 through Sunday, Nov 19 (see attached program schedule) with 6 hours of screenings on Wed and Sun, and 12 to 13 hours Thu, Fri and Sat.
We are looking for two people to split the responsibilities. Each projectionist will receive a stipend of $400 along with a registration waiver for the AAA conference. The position is ideal for a graduate student studying visual anthropology and ethnographic film.

SVAFMF Projectionist Responsibilities
During Festival (on site):
Primary responsibility is to make sure the technical requirements of the film festival are being met (projection, sound, etc.)
Manage and troubleshoot equipment through the film festival
Serve as the primary time-keeper, making sure films are screened on time – as scheduled in the program
One Projectionist is required to be onsite at all times the festival is open, with scheduled breaks every four hours.
Festival Projectionist must be punctual and technically savvy
Coordinate with Festival Manager to ensure festival runs as planned
