The University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a full time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS) Program with teaching and research interests in New Media Studies and Media Writing. We seek applicants with teaching and research interests new media, digital media or web theory; visual literacy; convergence journalism; social aspects of the Internet; and policy and regulatory issues in new media. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated expertise in teaching introductory courses in media writing and web design and will be required to teach both theory and skills courses. The position begins September 16, 2011 and requires a Ph.D. or terminal degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
