Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor rank. One year appointment. August 15, 2008.

The Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor position in Cultural/Visual Anthropology beginning August 15, 2008. Ph.D. at time of appointment required for Assistant Professor rank. Teaching experience required. Applicants must have an ongoing program of research and commitment to undergraduate teaching, including multiple sections of introductory courses. Ability to teach Introduction to Cultural Anthropology and Visual Anthropology required. Expertise in teaching ethnographic video production strongly preferred. Broad training in anthropology, ability to teach a wide variety of undergraduate courses, and experience in educational technology desired.

The Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology has an undergraduate program in anthropology with approximately 70 majors and an MA program in folklore. Western Kentucky University also offers a minor in Film Studies and an undergraduate degree in photojournalism.
